Chelsea of England youth team player, Ike Ugbo missed a golden chance that should have seen him net his first ever senior goal for The Blues in his first team debut during a pre-season friendly in Dublin, Ireland, megasportsarena.com reports.
Ugbo got the nod of Chelsea’s new boss, Frank Lampard from the start of the second half in Wednesday’s encounter, but his missed chance left the London club settling for a 1-1 draw with their hosts, Bohemians.
The youngster, who made his U23 debut for Chelsea as a schoolboy on September 14, 2014, six months after he made his maiden appearance for the U18, donned The Blues’ jersey number 20 that belonged to Callum Hudson-Odoi last season.
The 20-year-old Ugbo got off Chelsea’s bench at Dalymount Park for the start of the second half, as Lampard made 11 changes to his starting roster, but Michy Batshuayi’s 8th minute opening goal was equalized by Bohemians’ newcomer, Eric Molloy just a minute from the final whistle.
Ugbo, who had earlier being on Chelsea’s bench for all 90 minutes of a similar pre-season friendly against New England Revolution on May 16, missed his opportunity to score the winner when his effort went over the goalkeeper in the closing minutes stopped before crossing the line.
