Leicester City of England midfielder, Kelechi Iheanacho has come out with revelations of the success secrets that have seen the club end 2019 second on the English Premier League table, and says it is mostly because they work together as a team, megasportsarena.com reports.
While also exuding delight that he has recently returned to goals scoring form, with his third of the season coming last weekend in a 2-1 win away to West Ham United, Iheanacho stressed that is mostly about team work and together among the lads at King Power Stadium.
‘Kelele’ admitted he was relieved to play a key role and help The Foxes end the year with an away win against The Hammers, adding that ending the year as the EPL’s second-best team is a huge thrill for him and his pals.
The back-to-form Super Eagles youngster inspired The Foxes’ victory by opening scoring before Demarai Gray notched the match-winner after Pablo Fornals had leveled for the hosts, but they could not stop the win that ensured Brendan Rodgers’ side ended the year behind only league leaders Liverpool, with 42 points from 20 games.
In response to his personal efforts in that game, which included wining a penalty that was wasted by Gray, the former Columbus Crew of America and Manchester City lad admitted all the Leicester players were delighted with the feat and it concretised their level of togetherness.
Iheanacho declared: “It was good and it was tough, so we’re happy we got the three points and we’re second in the league now, so we’re happy. We did well actually. They were good and they were strong and they gave us a game and it was a good atmosphere. We love it.
“We’ve been working really hard in training. I think the whole squad, everyone that is playing, and us that are not getting playing time, so everyone is really together as a family. It’s a good group, working together in training, so there wasn’t much difference with who played today and the players who are starting, so we are a really good group and a good family.
“We work hard in training and as you can see, we showed it, so we’re happy. It’s always a good feeling to get a goal in the team. So, as a striker, you always want to get a goal and I’m not playing too much, so you have to keep your mentality up there, so you need to keep going.”
