Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho has predicted that the Nigerian national team, Super Eagles will get victory away to Cape Verde in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although he will not be available for the away fixture, on account of restrictions placed on him and other United Kingdom-based players from travelling to Cape Verde due to COVID-19 worries, the former Manchester City youngster believes his absence will not be felt.
Rather than pride himself as the hero, following his brace of goals that gave the Super Eagles a 2-0 win over Liberia in their first game of the Qatar 2022 qualifiers on Friday at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, Iheanacho declared that the Nigerian squad will get another victory in Cape Verde.
The Eagles will be without him and fellow English Premier League stars Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, William Troost-Ekong, Oghenekaro Etebo and Frank Onyeka as well as Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo from Glasgow Rangers of Scotland and Ola Aina from AS Torino of Italy.
However, Iheanacho, who first played on loan at Columbus Crew of America after popping into international limelight when he emerged as most valuable player at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which he helped Nigeria win in United Arab Emirates, insists Nigeria will win on Tuesday.
He stressed that there should be no cause for worry among Eagles’ fans, with a strong view that they still have a decent squad that can carry the day against their ambitious hosts, even in the absence of their top stars, six of who started Friday’s game in Lagos.
“We should not panic. We have a decent squad who can deliver. Hopefully, we will get the three points in Cape Verde and that will mean getting two wins in a row,” Iheanacho concluded.
