FC Midtjylland of Denmark midfielder, Frank Onyeka shook off the injury blight that stopped him from honouring his recent invitation to the Super Eagles, as he hit home a rare goal in action for his club on Sunday, while Emil Maduka Okoye was in 90 minutes of action and kept a clean sheet for Sparta Rotterdam of Holland.
However, megasportsarena.com can also report that sad news hit Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka in the English Premier League, as he limped off injured just few minutes after getting off the bench, as his side played out a goalless draw with Leeds United,
In Denmark, Onyeka scored a goal and provided an assist in Midtjylland’s 2-1 win away to AGF, and his team continue to impress in the Danish league, with another victory and impressive form by the Nigerian midfielder setting tongues wagging.
Onyeka’s goal comes just three days before FCM tango Ajax Amsterdam of Holland in the UEFA Champions League clash, which his team will have to win in order to stage a credible claim for qualification, considering that they are currently bottom of Group D.
Having lost all three group games thus far, Onyeka and his pals will be all out for redemption, especially as Ajax won 2-1 when both teams first clashed in Denmark and the Dutch giants will hope for another victory to keep the pressure on group leaders, Liverpool of England, while also aiming to pull away from Atalanta of Italy.
In Holland, Okoye put up an impressive show for Sparta Rotterdam and helped The Castle Lords trounce ADO Den Haag 6-0 in Sunday’s Dutch Eredivisie outing, in which the Super Eagles’ new first choice goalkeeper was in action from start to finish for his side.
Courtesy of two goals each from Lennart Thy and Mario Engels, Okoye kept a clean sheet as his side romped past their visitors for their second win of the campaign and now occupy 10th spot in the Eredivisie log with nine points from nine games.
While ADO languish in the relegation zone with just four points, Okoye and his pals will now hope to consolidate on Sunday’s result when they travel to Philips Stadion next Sunday in their next fixture away to PSV Eindhoven.
In England, Saka got injured during Arsenal’s goalless draw against EPL newcomers, Leeds, even as the Nigerian-born England international was a second half substitute, after which he went down in his own box while going for a tackle and he was replaced by Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Saka had earlier gone on for Joseph Willock but was unable to complete the game, which gave Arsenal a double-disadvantage, as Ivory Coast winger, Nicolas Pepe saw a straight red card for a head butt on an opposing player.
Leeds went on to dominate the game and hit the post three times but they failed to score, while The Gunners also had an opportunity or two to win the tie, one of which came when Saka failed to convert when he was put through on goal few minutes before he went off injured.
