Arsenal of England youngster, Folarin Balogun has received yet another bolt of assurance from The Gunners’ coach, Mikel Arteta that his place in the squad is assured for the immediate future and urged the youngster to keep thinking big, megasportsarena.com reports.
Arteta went on to express confidence in Balogun signing a new contract offered him at Emirates Stadium, where the lad’s current deal expires in June, and the Spanish football tactician admitted he was excited seeing the youngster net against Dundalk of Ireland in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
Balogun joined Arsenal at the age of eight, rising through the ranks before signing his first professional contract in February 2019 and Arteta hailed the youngster after his team continued their impressive showing in the UEFA Europa League with a 4-2 win against Dundalk.
Balogun’s current contract expires next June and his future has been the subject of speculation in recent months, but Arteta revealed that the 19-year-old attacker, who extended his personal marks to two goals and an assist after four appearances off the bench, wants to remain at the club for the foreseeable future and the news will be sweet music to the ears of Arsenal fans.
Arteta declared a positive response about Balogun’s future, adding: “We’ve been having some discussions with the player. He knows that we want to retain him at the club and we know that the length of his contract at the moment is an issue.
“But we’re trying to resolve it in the best possible way. We want him to stay and he’s said to me that he wants to stay at the club, so hopefully we can reach an agreement and extend his contract.”
