New signing at VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Felix Nmecha has declared that he is ready to give his very best for the German Bundesliga club, as he appreciates their decision to give him a full contract.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, although he is yet to make his marks as a professional, the former youth team player at Manchester City of England is set to hit the spotlight in Germany, and Nmecha says he aims to make the best of it.
The deal also gives him the chance to finally step out of the shadows of his older brother, Lukas, who has also starred for Man City at various levels, yet the new signing insists he is out to cut a niche for himself.
He wants to be rated on his own terms and as a different player, such that signing the dotted lines is already a thrill for Nmecha, who admits he is excited with the prospects lying ahead of him with The Wolves.
Such was his enthusiasm after Wolfsburg confirmed that they had completed the signing of the Germany-born attacking midfielder of Nigerian descent, who arrives on a free transfer following his release by Man City, where he spent almost eleven years.
The 20-year-old England youth international leaves Etihad Stadium after only three appearances for City’s first team, including debuts in the UEFA Champions League, English FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
He becomes Wolfsburg’s fifth signing of the summer and, after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract that will run until 2024, the younger Nmecha said his biggest target is to help the club pick laurels, even as he aims to hit off high personal marks as well.
He follows in the footsteps of his older brother, who completed a move to The Wolves earlier this month, and he has already been assigned jersey number 22, as he gets set to start training with his new colleagues on Thursday at their pre-season camp in Bad Waltersdorf , Austria.
Nmecha submitted: “I’m pleased to be here and I’m grateful for the confidence that VfL have placed in me. I’m ready to give my best for the team and be successful.”
