The lid has been blown of the secrets behind the amazing breakthrough Faustino Anjorin is enjoying at Chelsea of England, as one of The Blues’ assistant coaches, Andy Myers revealed that the crews’ technical input is helping the Nigerian-born lad to soar higher, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Myers, who is in charge of Chelsea’s under-23 squad, explained at length that Anjorin is bound to get even better this year, considering how the lad has been able to adopt tactical details and instructions handed him, which cumulated in him making his senior team debut in a UEFA Champions League clash against Krasnodar of Russia.
Although analysts are wont to argue that Anjorin only got the nod from Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard because the side was already through with Chelsea already through to the last 16 of the European elite clubs’ competition, Myers insists the whiz-kid totally deserved the chance.
The Nigerian-born youngster also took advantage of injuries to Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi to get a spot in the main team, following which the England youth international got his first start for The Blues in a 1-1 draw with the Russian opponents on December 8.
Anjorin’s two previous appearances were off the bench in matches against Grimsby Town and Everton in the Carabao Cup as well as English Premier League respectively, with a total log of 42 minutes under his boots, but he surpassed that mark in one UCL game, his first ever, as he went on for 80 minutes in the clash with Krasnodar.
Myers has now explained the factors that led to the breakthrough for Anjorin, who has five goals and two assists in seven appearances for Chelsea’s youth teams, as the assistant coach says the lad is soaring due to his assiduous work ethic and his all-round commitment.
“We always have objectives to try and get players to train with the first team and be involved with them. It’s been difficult to fulfill that this year with the pandemic but I think the opportunities we’ve had have been taken and the first team have welcomed that.
“To go one better than just training with the first team, we’ve also had a player make a full debut in Tino Anjorin, which is much deserved for his hard work this season,” Myers posited.
