Club Brugge of Belgium attacker, Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure has received a mouthwatering offer from Shanghai SIPG of China, as the Chinese Super League outfit look to take advantage of fading affection for the Super Eagles’ fringe player in his current team, megasportsarena.com reports.
Bonaventure’s efforts to leave the club last summer, following offers he got from Celtic of Scotland, Tottenham Hotspur of England and Real Madrid of Spain appeared to put the star in bad light with the hierarchy at Brugge, such that disaffection is growing round him.
That might have led to a falling out he had with other players and the team’s technical crew before one of their continental matches, when he stormed off the bus on being told to take another seat in accordance with COVID-19 regulations, following which he was suspended by the club and fined.
All these events, though, might have caused a further spread of bad blood between the highly enterprising and resourceful attacker-cum-winger, as his goals have apparently dried up and his former regular spot in the starting line-up has become staggered.
Subsequently, fresh transfer speculation has erupted around him, and a report by Het Laatste Nieuws indicates that there is a very serious interest by the Chinese club for the under-23 national team, Olympic Eagles’ former invitee, who looks set to finally be on his way out of the Belgian champions after the bus controversy that made several leading headlines in October.
Interestingly, the report also indicated that Hertha Berlin of Germany are also interested in a deal for Bonaventure, who was widely tipped for a big-money transfer last summer, but his various suitors could not meet Brugge asking price of 25 million Euro.
However, following the recent cold relations between Bonaventure and top brass at the Brugge-based club, the officials might this time be very willing to let him go for a reduced fee, especially considering that he is no longer happy in the squad and his relations have thawed with other players.
