Racing Genk of Belgium attacker, Cyriel Dessers has admitted he is keeping his transfer options open heading into the summer, as he confessed hat he has strong doubts over his future at his present base, megasportsarena.com reports.
Despite eventually notching another goal for Genk this past weekend, Dessers acknowledged how tough his first season in Belgium has been, such that the striker with a Nigerian mother and Dutch father stressed that he could be on the move this summer.
The 26-year-old Dessers, who still has a contract with Racing Genk for three more seasons, had not scored in the Belgian top-flight league for more than five months before his match-winning strike versus RSC Anderlecht this past weekend.
He earlier displayed his goals scoring instincts by scoring five goals in a single game as Genk hit Westerlo 5-1 in a friendly last month, but another goal to his name this past Saturday has not changed the scenario that has seen the former Heracles Almelo of Holland attacker fall out of favour.
He dropped down the pecking order after the opening four matches of the current season, mostly due to the brilliant form of his compatriot, Paul Ebere Onuachu, who continues to break records this season.
However, while Onuachu is expected to move on in the summer, Dessers is also bracing for the exit door, as he knows his first team spot at Genk is still not guaranteed, following reports that the club’s top brass are in the market for another proven striker.
Dessers told Het Laatste Nieuws: “At the moment it is also of little use to go deeper into my future, the moment itself is too good for that.
“I cannot say that those doubts have now disappeared with that one goal. I will see what will happen in the summer, a lot will also depend on what will happen to the other players.”
