Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze will not have the pleasure of being in action with his Spanish LaLIga Thursday night in the UEFA Europa League, as his team’s opponents, Qarabag FK have been stopped from honoring the game due to an outbreak of coronavirus in their camp.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the development comes just few hours to kick off at Estadio de la Cerámica in Spain, after the Azerbaijani champions confirmed that they do not have the minimum number of players needed for them to be able to go ahead with the game.
That unsavoury development happened after several Qarabag players could not receive medical clearances to feature in the game, due to their positive COVID-19 teats and Europe’s football governing body, UEFA decided to shift the match to a later date after contacting both clubs.
It is a minor setback for Chukwueze, who continues fighting for a regular spot in Unai Emery’s starting line-up for continental cup games, but has seen his game time reduced to mostly LaLiga matches alone, thereby getting only four starts from five games in this season’s competition.
However, after notching a match-winning strike against Sivasspor of Turkey last week, pointes had been that Chukwueze would get to start Thursday’s game, but he will now have to turn his focus on The Yellow Submarine’s next LaLiga match against Real Betis on Sunday, while noting that they have already qualified for the Europa League round of 32 as winners of Group I.
