Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze has come out with a startling revelation that his dream club as a child was Chelsea of England, but he stopped short of affirming if he would be keen on joining The Blues in this summer’s transfer window, megasportsarena.com reports.
While speculation has been on about a possible exit from The Yellow Submarine for Chukwueze at the end of this season, nothing has been said about his next likely port of call, the 20-year-old has now stirred the grapevine louder than ever by revealing his love for Chelsea.
Incidentally, the biggest transfer links coming his way have been at Barcelona of Spain as well as the English Premier League duo of Newcastle United and Liverpool, but new angles of vibrant speculations are bound to emerge after Chukwueze revealed that he is a huge fan of The Blues.
Ironically, Chukwueze was close to join Chelsea’s London rivals, Arsenal, soon after popping to limelight in Nigeria’s winning squad at Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, only for breakdown of talks between his youth team, Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia and The Gunners to scupper that move.
Arsenal initially showed some interest in moving again for Chukwueze at the height of his hugely impressive breakthrough with Villarreal last season, but his slump in form this term has taken him off the radar at Emirates Stadium, despite still attracting interest from the duo of Newcastle and Liverpool, but the real value of his desire might be in moving to Stamford Bridge instead.
Chukwueze said via Instagram Live: “My favourite team in England is Chelsea. I was supporting Chelsea when I was young. When Chelsea lost that Champions League final against Manchester United, I was crying all through the night.”
