Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze has gained words of appreciation from one of his famous teammates and former Arsenal of England midfielder, Francis Coquelin, following an assist the Super Eagles’ rookie gave the French star last weekend, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although many observers opined that they are yet to see the best of Chukwueze since the better part of last season into this summer, Coquelin has nothing but praise for the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist, who gave him the pass that helped him score a debut goal in their side’s 2-0 win over Real Sociedad during a pre-season friendly.
In the said game, Chukwueze started his third pre-season game and, although he could not continue the feat that saw him score in last Friday’s 2-1 loss to Valencia, he appeared to improve on his blending with other players in the squad, as The Yellow Submarine step up preparations for the 2020/21 season.
Dramatically, it took just a minute for Villarreal to go ahead through Coquelin’s low effort after a great ball in from Chukwueze; after which Sergio Asenjo saved a penalty and The Submarine got another goal on the half-hour, following intelligent play by Moi Gómez, who was brought down and Alcácer stepped up to fire home from the spot.
Chukwueze’s side will wrap up their pre-season games against Levante this Sunday then start their LaLiga campaign at home against Kelechi Nwakali’s newcomers, Huesca next weekend, ahead of which the Nigerian youngster has received accolades from hys new teammate.
Coquelin, who recently joined Villarreal on a free transfer from Valencia, took to social media to reveal his appreciation for the left-footed winger, and the Frenchman posted: “Good victory and great work from the whole team. We keep improving. Happy to score my first croquet goal. Thank you ‘Chuku Chuku’ @chukwueze_8 for the assistance.”
