Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze will join his Nigerian compatriots, Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem of CD Leganes in a countdown heading into Monday for the restart of regular team training sessions among all clubs in the Spanish LaLiga, megasportsarena.com reports.
While their fellow-Nigerians back home in Lagos and Abuja will also get the privilege of that day for the beginning of gradual reopening of the nation, following almost six weeks of lockdown caused by coronavirus, Chukwueze, Omeruo and Awaziem will be delighted that they can finally rest their minds of regular football action over the coming days.
This is sequel to a report indicating that the Spanish government has outlined plans to start a strategic process from this Monday in the much-desired return of sports activities, and LaLiga may be allowed to restart its season behind closed doors by mid-June.
The report out of The Land of The Armada that would excite Chukwueze, Omeruo, Awaziem and their fans is that the country’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez confirmed that individual training can begin again as Phase Zero this Monday, while Phase 1 and group sessions will be allowed by May 11.
This is despite the fact that the return of football contrasts to approaches being taken by other countries, especially Holland and France which have already ruled out the return of football before September and occasioned the cancelation of their league seasons.
Although Spain has been hit hard by the virus with more than 25,000 deaths to date, it is a big pleasant development for Chukwueze, Omeruo, Awaziem and other players in the Iberian nation that their leader is ready to open up the country once again and provide a strong ray of hope that LaLiga will soon get back into full swing.
Sanchez said: “We hope that leagues and federations will come to a decision soon. We already started to allow individual training sessions for team sports. We hope [it] will come sooner rather than later but we’ll see it first on television rather than in the stadiums, I’m afraid.”
