Arsenal of England winger, Bukayo Saka has set his sight on achieving his full competitive debut for England in Wednesday’s UEFA Nations League clash with Iceland, which would cap-tie him to Queensland forever, megasportsarena.com reports.
Having starred as a substitute for his first competitive outing for England when he played in the second half against Belgium on Monday, Saka admitted he is looking forward for more days with The Three Lions and the Nigerian-born lad now wants to get cap-tied on Wednesday.
He declared as much while explaining his burning ambitions for the country of his birth, as he admitted that he hopes to see his international future secured by England this week, despite having earlier been approached by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) before winning his first cap for The Lions in a friendly against Wales last month.
Although his father and mother are both Nigerians, Saka is on the verge of becoming an England full international for life, as he is targeting more appearances for Queensland, after making his competitive debut off the bench in the loss to Belgium.
If he is selected by England’s coach, Gareth Southgate in Wednesday’s Nations League clash against Iceland, it would finally end any possibility of the 19-year-old representing Nigeria in future, based on FIFA’s new eligibility rule, but the youngster appears excited with his prospects.
Saka declared: “Didn’t go the way we wanted it to last night but lots of positives to take from the game! On a personal note I’m very happy to play my first competitive game for @england which I hope is the first of many more to come ! ❤️🏴🦁.”
