Queens Park Rangers of England winger, Bright Osayi-Samuel has emerged as a very strong candidate to become the next Nigerian player to star for Fenerbahçe of Turkey, following reported interest in the in-form lad from The Yellow Canaries, megasportsarena.com reports.
So soon after the exit of Victor Moses from the Istanbul-based side, which previously had Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Uche Okechukwu, Michael Eneramo, Emmanuel Emenike and Joseph Ikpo Yobo, Osayi-Samuel is the next Nigerian star in line to join the Turkish Super Lig side.
This is sequel to feelers out of Turkey that Fenerbahçe are in pole position to sign Osayi-Samuel before the end of this month, with Football Insider adding that the Istanbul giants are now ahead of the Glasgow-based duo of Rangers and Celtic of Scotland in the race to sign the skillful and speedy youngster, who last summer came close to joining Club Brugge of Belgium.
Aside interest from Brugge, Fulham, Leicester City and Brighton of England had also all earlier been mentioned as possible destinations for the QPR Young Player of the Year, but they are now all said to be behind Fernebahce in the hunt for the lad’s services.
This comes at a point The Rs actually offered Osayi-Samuel fresh terms but the lad, who joined the Championship club from Blackpool in the summer of 2017, rejected the proposed deal, with a strong hint that he wants to take his career to the next level by joining a top-flight team.
Consequently, Fenerbahçe are looking at signing Osayi-Samuel before the close of the ongoing January transfer window, meaning The Hoops would be due a transfer fee, but Rangers and Celtic appear ready to hold out until the campaign ends, which means they intend to sign him as a free agent in the off-season.
