Outgoing Enyimba of Aba sensation, Anayo Iwuala has declared emphatically that he is aiming at a glorious career with Esperance of Tunisia, where he signed a three year deal on Monday, megasportsarena.com reports.
The deal takes the Super Eagles’ rookie to a club that has a storng Nigerian radition, dating back to the days of Garba Lawal, Julius Efosa Aghahowa and Michael Enaramo in their squads over the years, but the new rave of the moment says he wants to make his own name as well.
Such is the conviction coming from the youngster, who debut for the Eagles in a last-gasp 1-0 win away to Benin Republic in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, then captained the home-based squad in a 4-0 loss to Mexico in Los Angeles, USA.
For now, though, the only thought on his mind is to excel at his new base, where he Iwuala has signed a three-year contract with perennial Tunisian champions Esperance.
He is now determined to utilise the experience he gained playing for two years with The Peoples’ Elephant, as he takes his career to another level with the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 outfit.
His three-year contract with The Blood & Gold means the 22-year-old Iwuala will be at Stade Olympique de Rades until at least 2024, after which he could decide on a new contract or move to a club in Europe.
Before then, Iwuala will aim to help the Tunisian champions achieve another remarkable outing in the CAF Champions League.
The youngster, who was born in Lagos, began his professional career in 2018 at Kada City before heading to Delta Force, from where he was signed by Enyimba.
His stock surge to an all-time high after he made his senior national team debut against Benin Republic on March 27, and he has since gained four caps with the Super Eagles.
He signed off from Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) with a brace of goals for Enyimba away to Dakkada of Uyo on the final day of the campaign and his efforts helped to ensure that The Peoples’ Elephant will again play continental football in the coming season.
Iwuala is now aiming to hit the ground running, after he passed a routine medical in Tunis, as he officially commences his tenure with the club that are undergoing a major re-organisation under a new coach and Tunisian ex-international defender, Radhi Jaidi.
A report by completesports.com added: “According to transfer expert Nuhu Adams Esperance will pay Enyimba $5000,000 to seal the 22-year-old’s transfer.
“Iwuala is reportedly going to earn around $45,000 as monthly salary. Moroccan side Raja Casablanca were also interested in the Nigeria international but he has opted to join Esperance.
“The player attracted interest from a number of clubs abroad following a remarkable campaign for eight time Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enyimba.
“He bagged a brace in his last game for the Aba giants, a 3-1 away win against Dakkada in Uyo on Thursday which sealed a place on the continent.”
