Fulham of England winger, Ademola Lookman could be on his way to forming another dramatic combination with Nigerian players, as he is on the summer transfer radar of Leicester City, who currently have Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi and Kelechi ‘Kelz’ Iheanacho on their cards.
Lookman played last season on loan from RB Leipzig of Germany at Fulham, where he combined with Tosin Adarabioyo, Ola Aina and Josh Onomah, but could not save The Cottagers from relegation from the English Premier League.
However, megasportsarena.com reports that, rather than head back to his parent club, the former England youth international, who was last week cleared by FIFA to play for Nigeria, has expressed a preference of staying put in Queensland.
Consequently, the former Everton of England dazzler, who first hit top marks on loan at Leipzig from The Toffees, is now close to continuing the Nigerian tradition at King Power Stadium, dating back to the days of Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Chima Daniel Uchechi with The Foxes.
This is sequel to a report out of England indicating that Leicester are in talks with Leipzig over a possible deal to sign Lookman, though both clubs are some distance apart over agreeing a fee for the winger.
Lookman could not fit plum into developments at King Power Stadium, where Leicester officials are keen to get one or two players off the wage bill before pursuing a deal for a wide attacking player.
One vacuum he jolly well fit into is the impending departure of creative midfielder, Dennis Praet before Tuesday’s deadline, with the 27-year-old undergoing a medical ahead of a season-long loan to Torino of Italy, and everything is pointing in the direction of Lookman stepping in.
A report by Sky Sports adds: “Lookman, who spent last season on loan at Fulham, is thought to be keen on the move if a deal can be agreed and Leicester are considering other wingers if Leipzig are not prepared to compromise on their fee.
“Lookman played 35 games in all competitions for Fulham last season, scoring four goals as the Cottagers were relegated from the Premier League.
“The 23-year-old spent two and a half years at Everton before moving to Leipzig permanently in July 2019, where he has made only 13 appearances.”
