Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Wilfred Ndidi may be out for the remainder of the season.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the midfielder damaged his knee in a tackle against Rennes on Thursday night, limping off after an hour.
Leicester lost 2-1 on the night, but progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League after recording a 3-2 win on aggregate.
Speaking after beating Brentford 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, Rodgers said: “We are waiting for a second opinion on that but Wilf is not so good.
“Whether he will play for the rest of the season, we aren’t sure. That is a real shame for us.”
Ndidi has made 31 club appearances across all competitions this season. He will miss Nigeria’s crucial two-legged World Cup qualifier against Ghana, which will decide their participation in Qatar.
Leicester moved into the top half of the Premier League with the Brentford win. Timothy Castagne and James Maddison scored two fine strikes, with Yoane Wissa netting a late consolation for Brentford.
