Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has been ruled out of The Fixes’ next pre-season match against Atalanta of Italy, as he is still is currently on an extended break from THE START OF training with his club mates, after featuring extensively for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, megasportsarena.com reports.
Ndidi was one of three players who played in every single match the Eagles prosecuted en route to winning their eighth bronze medal in the competition’s history, and the only game he did not start was the 2-0 loss to Madagascar, for which he was a second half substitute, such that Leicester boss, Brendan Rodgers says the star needs a long rest.
Consequently, Rodgers has allowed the former Racing Genk of Belgium ace get a longer spell on holiday, which has ruled him out of Saturday’s friendly against Atalanta, but still in line to start their first English Premier League match of the season on August 11.
This much Rodgers disclosed, as the former Liverpool and Celtic gaffer stressed gives Ndidi enough of a time-frame for total recovery, before he makes a return to training next week, ahead of the new season.
It is also noteworthy that Ndidi already starred in every single match The Foxes played last season, and was ranked as the top tackler in the English top-flight.
Though the Eagles’ star has already missed Leicester’s first three friendly outings this summer, Rodgers said the 22-year-old player will still rest and then resume training next week.
The gaffer believes that should give Ndidi enough time to gather himself for Leicester’s opening game of the 2019-20 English Premier League race against visiting Wolverhampton Wanderers at King Power Stadium.
Rodgers told Leicestershire Live: “He will be back towards the Atalanta game. He won’t be involved in that, but he will be training for a few days before that. He will be available for the first game.”
