Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi is receiving another shower of accolades from the most unexpected source, as the team that dumped his side in defeat at home last weekend, Manchester United, have rolled out sweet words about him, megasportsaerena.com reports.
So soon after Ndidi was voted joint-top tackler of the just concluded season in the English Premier League, the former Racing Genk of Belgium holding midfielder has earned lofty words in a citation by The Red Devils’ official website, which noted the lad’s rare qualities.
Although Ndidi could not save his side from falling 2-0 at King Power Stadium, which ultimately meant The Foxes could no longer qualify for the UEFA Champions League, the media unit at Old Trafford identified the Super Eagles’ ace among two Leicester stars that stood out in the game.
It is another endorsement of top quality for the product of Nath Boys FC of Lagos, who continues setting huge marks since joining Leicester in January 2017, despite another fact showing that The Foxes have lost five and drawn only one of six matches by which he has played against United since making the switch from Belgium to England.
Nonetheless, The Red Devils went on to rate Ndidi on the same level with their award winning right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who won the top tackler award together with the Nigerian lad, who earlier won it in his first full season in the EPL and retained it the following term.
This season, Ndidi made 139 successful tackles to finish joint-top with Wan-Bissaka, which is different from what he got in the 2017/18 campaign, when the Super Eagles star was sole winner of the prize with 138 tackles and the following season he improved that record to 143; all of which informed the eulogies showered on him by The Red Devils’ media.
United’s website stated: “One of Leicester’s players of the season is Wilfred Ndidi. The Nigerian has been incredibly influential in the middle of the park for the Foxes, who went through a poor run of form mid-season when he was on the sidelines due to a knee injury.”
