SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has received a vote of confidence in his ability to bounce back from recent woes hitting him with the Italian Serie A club, where he got a red card in the UEFA Europa League last week and could not save his side from losing at home in the Italian Serie A.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, before he was sent off in the continental match, Osimhen had a goal ruled out and, to further upset him emotionally, he failed to convert two gilt edged chances in Napoli’s shock 2-0 loss against visiting Sassuolo on Sunday.
However, before analysts and fans conclude that Osimhen is distraught and could be distracted from being a team player with his Naples-based side, the former VfL Wolfsburg of Germany and Sporting Charleroi of Belgium star’s agent, Andrea D’Amico is tipping his ward to bounce back soon.
With just a single goal in five league games since joining Napoli from Lille Metropole of France, Osimhen has not lit up the Italian Serie A as expected, thereby fueling speculation that he could end up being a flop in Italy, but D’Amico thinks otherwise.
The agent, however, admitted that was very angry in the wake of the loss to Sassuolo on Sunday, especially after he failed to convert two opportunities to break the deadlock when the scoreline was still level at 0-0.
Osimhen is not eligible to play for Napoli when they take on Rijeka of Croatia in the Europa League on Thursday, following his dismissal in the closing minutes of last week’s game versus Real Sociedad of Spain, but the agent is backing his client to come good on all fronts.
D’Amico told Radio Marte: “Victor was very angry after the defeat, but knowing him I know he will respond vigorously to this setback. What really matters is the attitude of the team and the player himself, mistakes can be made by everyone.
“Remember Dzeko? The first year at Roma he missed goals alone in front of the goal, then the following year he was the top scorer of the championship and he is a key element on the pitch and in the locker room.
“Often there is too much haste in judgments, both for the players and for the teams: at the start of the season the grids are already made, after two victories in a row you are automatically in the running for the championship.”
