SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has received a round of applause and praise from an Italian football pundit, Alessandro Bonan, who opined that the Super Eagles’ youngster showed stern capacity when he faced ‘various problems’ at the start of his career in the Italian Serie A.
The Sky Sport Italia pundit also described Osimhen as a special player for his ability to weather the storm and noted that the youngster’s slow start to thrills in Italy was down to the myriad of problems he has faced on his arrival from Lille Metropole of France.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Bonan also hailed Osimhen for his all-round contribution during Napoli’s 2-0 win over Sampdoria at Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday, but posited that he best is yet to be seen of the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup top scorer.
He recalled that the leggy striker, who has also previously played for VfL Wolfsburg of Germany and Sporting Charleroi of Belgium, did well in the beginning of the season but soon began to struggle for form when he got a red card in the UEFA Europa League, got injured on international duty and then contracted coronavirus during his birthday celebration in Lagos.
The analysts, however, enthused that he is happy seeing that Osimhen is nearing his best form once again, having enacted three goals and an assist in his last six Serie A matches, while also netting his fourth goal for Napoli in Sunday’s win against Sampdoria.
Osimhen sealed Napoli’s majestic win when he outpaced his marker and fired past goalkeeper Emil Audero in the 87th minute of his 16thg appearance in the Italian top-flight, much to the delight of Bomnan, who predicted more thrills from the Super Eagles’ current top scorer.
Bonan said during Sky Sport Italia Calcio Show: “Osimhen is the star of this day, but he is the same failure in this championship due to the problems he had. You can see immediately, he is a special player.”
