Deportivo La Coruna of Spain goalkeeper, Francis Odinaka Uzoho has been hit with another setback in his recent burst to limelight, as his demotion from the club’s main team has been trailed with a penalty blunder he committed in a third division match against Pontevedra.
The report out of The Land of The Armada reveals that Uzoho pulled down an opponent in the box, to allow the opposing side score from the penalty spot, and his side could only settle for a 2-2 with their hosts.
Uzoho, who has been called up to the Super Eagles for the first time, ahead of their games against Algeria and Argentina, is back with Deportivo’s B-team, known as Fabril, following the sacking of Pepe Mel.
The 18-year-old Uzoho, who has two La-Liga games to his name under Mel, brought down Pontevedra forward, David Anon in the box, and the opponent got up to blast the resultant penalty home for the opening goal of the game.
Anon then made it 2-1 to Pontevedra when he finished a classic counter attack and hit the ball past Uzoho, whose three games clean sheet for the team was brought to an abrupt end.
Uzoho, though, had Oscar Pinchi to thank for a late equaliser, which helped Fabril salvage a point from the game.
Pinchi struck two minutes into time added time to save his team from defeat and console Uzoho for allowing the first goal come through a penalty he caused.
