The lanky striker was replaced by Mohamed-Ali Cho seven minutes before the break after suffering a freak injury.
Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil is worried the striker could be sidelined for a while. “The image has been ugly, but we have to wait for the tests.”
Kenneth Omeruo also picked up an injury during a club engagement. The centre-back went down in pain in the 74th minute of CD Leganes’s 1-0 defeat at Las Palmas.
Recall on Wednesday night, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen succumbed to a muscle strain during the Italian side’s 4-1 hammering of Liverpool in the Champions League. He will be unavailable for two weeks.
Meanwhile, West Brom manager Steve Bruce hopes Semi Ajayi recovers fast from up injury to strengthen the team’s back line as action hots up in the English Championship.
The Baggies lost the Super Eagles defender to an ankle injury at Wigan two weekends ago and the he will spend a period on the sidelines.
“He hasn’t played a lot of football,” Bruce admitted. “But with Semi and what happened to him and where we were, with his experience and know how, we need to get him up to speed quick. We’ll see where he is in a couple of days.”
