New signing at Sunderland of England, Ugonna Emenike has declared that he expects to get a rosy future with The Black Cats, as he is determined to make the best of his first professional contract.

Megasportsarena.com reports that the young defender revealed as much after signing dotted lines with the English League One side, following a successful trial period, in which he featured during seven matches.

While giving praises to God for making the deal possible, Emenike did not disclose the type of contract he signed, but enthused that he will make the best of the agreement that will keep him at Stadium of Light until end of the 2021-22 season.

The 18-year-old versatile defender, who previously spent time growing through the academy at Boreham Wood before getting spells with Clapton and Leatherhead, will feature for the time being with Sunderland’s under-23 squad.

The youngster, who will now aim to follow in the footsteps of Josh Maja, who rose through Sunderland’s youth ranks before making his senior debut for The Black Cats, took to social media to celebrate his new deal.

Emenike posted: “Happy to sign my first professional contract @sunderlandafcofficial really proud moment for me and my family. Delighted for what the future holds glory to God.”
