New signing at Cercle Brugge of Belgium, Ike Ugbo has expressed optimism that he will be able to settle down quickly and perform well at the Jupiler League outfit because of the presence of his former coach in the youth team at Chelsea of England, Paul Clement.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that the dark-skinned attacker is already relishing the opportunity of getting to play under Clement at Cercle Brugge and expressed optimism that he will continue developing his game under his favourite gaffer at the club where he will spend this season on loan.
Ugbo was also very happy after scoring on his debut for Cercle in a 3-2 away win over KV Mechelen of Sunday, few days after the 21-year-old agreed on a loan move to Jan Breydel Stadium, as he scored in the 54th minute to draw his side level in the Belgian top-flight game.
Although he was later replaced in the 67th minute of the game, Ugbo was also excited to see the win take Cercle Brugge up to fourth position on the Belgium Jupiler table and he hopes to keep waxing strong and maintain his scoring form this weekend against KV Kortrijk.
During his latest loan spell the Nigerian-born lad, who twinkled last season during a similar spell at Roda JC Kerkrade of Holland, believes he will excel under the former Chelsea youth coach and first-team assistant that is now in charge of technical duties at Cercle Brugge.
Ugbo said in a video post: “I’ve seen a couple of players that used to be here on loan and then I got a call from Paul Clement, I think knowing his experience and accomplishments in the game, I think it’s a good step I can learn a lot from and Nigel Gibbs assisted.
“So, I think that was very key in getting me here today. I’m aiming to score more goals and contribute more goals during the season. Hopefully, we can finish as high as possible near the top end of the table this year and I’m willing to put in everything I’ve got, to be there for the team.”
