FC Lorient of France attacker, Terem Moffi has been described as a ‘high level player’ by the French Ligue 1 club’s coach, Christophe Pelissier, who added that he has been impressed by the Calabar-born lad’s performances with the team.
Speaking against the background of Moffi’s first goal of the new season in France, Pelissier went on to acknowledge that many top clubs across Europe are interested in buying the 22-year-old due to the sterling performances he has enacted since joining the club.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, with Moffi now being linked with a move to Atletico Madrid of Spain, Pelissier conceded that Lorient may soon lose the lad, who played a vital role to help the team get promoted to the French top-tier.
After netting 14 goals and providing three assists, Moffi ended the past season as Lorient’s top scorer and already declared that he wants to match the feat in the new campaign, but the gaffer is wary of that not coming to pass should ongoing transfer links see light of the day.
Moffi opened his goal account for the 2021/22 season with the lone strike in a 1-0 win over AS Monaco in their last Ligue 1 match, as he stepped forward to convert from the penalty spot in the 31st minute.
That victory powered Lorient to seventh position on the Ligue 1 table with four points after two games, while Monaco dropped to 14th with just a point after two outings, and Pelissier admits that Moffi is steadily developing into a key player for the squad.
Pelissier told Ouest-France: “The fact that a player like him is wanted [by other teams] seems logical to me, and is also gratifying for the work that is being done here.
“We are able to develop very, very high-level players. Terem is already a very high-level player and I think he will get even better with time.”
