Chelsea of England striker, Tammy Abraham has eventually opened talks with The Blues over a likely contract extension at Stamford Bridge, few days after news emerged that the London-based English Premier League club are looking at an alternative attacker from Real Madrid of Spain, megasportsarena.com reports.
Feelers from Stanford Bridge indicate that Abraham might have been bamboozled into agreeing to talks with the club on the realization that they are apparently lining up a contingency move for Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez, in the event of their inability to hit a new deal with their Nigerian-born top scorer of the current season.
An update provided by Italian journalist, Nicolo Schira, revealed that The Blues want to extend Abraham’s contract until the summer of 2025 and have offered the centre-forward wages of £7m a year, and they are now in advanced talks with the England international over a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old, who has scored 15 times in 34 appearances for Frank Lampard’s side during the currently suspended campaign, will see his current deal with the Blues will expire in June 2022, but the club are now inching closer to an agreement with the in-form striker, who returned to Chelsea last summer after spending the 2018/19 campaign on loan at Aston Villa.
It was during his time at Villa Park in the English Championship that Abraham proved his worth, as he ended as the league’s top scorer in helping the club gain promotion back to the EPL, and he has now netted 13 goals for his capital club this term, but The Blues’ top shots still aim to hit the summer market for at least one new striker this summer with both Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi potentially moving on ahead of next season.
