Chelsea of England striker, Tammy Abraham is determined to prove his value for the London-based club and confirm that he still remains relevant to their cause, despite the recent signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig of Germany, megasportsarena.com reports.
While many observers believe the impending arrival of Werner at Stamford Bridge could mark an end to Abraham’s first team status with The Blues, the Nigerian-born England international is thinking otherwise, and wants to use his form to convince the club’s hierarchy of his value.
That would begin next weekend, as Chelsea return to action in the English Premier League after a near-four-month suspension caused by coronavirus, as The Blues take a trip to Aston Villa on Sunday, June 21, and Abraham will aim to use Werner’s imminent arrival as an opportunity to negotiate a more favourable contract for himself.
British newspaper, The Express reports that the 22-year-old Abraham could use the big-money deal that takes the German striker from Leipzig to London to his advantage, as he prepares to open talks over a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The report adds: “Chelsea are expected to officially announce the signing of Werner in the coming weeks after supposedly triggering the buyout clause in his RB Leipzig contract.
“The Germany international’s arrival was expected to spell bad news for Abraham, who has been tasked with leading the line for the Blues this season. Abraham has two years to run on his existing terms and could now be in line for a significant pay rise, it is claimed, bringing him in line with the club’s other high earners.”
