Manchester City of England youngster, Tai Sodje is relishing helping The Citizens to their third title across all levels of English football this season, as they added the youth league diadem to that of the U23 cadre and the English Premier League, megasportsarena.com reports.
While The Citizens are still celebrating their third EPL senior title in five years, the nephew of former Super Eagles defenders, Sam and Efe Sodje, said he is happy helping the side become the first club to claim a clean sweep of three of England’s major league titles in the same season.
The younger Sodje and his pals in The Citizens’ teenagers’ squad clinched the U18 English Premier League North title following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Burnley, with the Nigerian-born centre forward in action for the last 18 minutes.
Conquest of the U18 EPL comes hot on the heels of City’s under-23 team winning the English Premier League 2 title, while the main squad won the elite English Premier League title officially on Tuesday evening, after their local rivals, Manchester United lost to 2016 champions, Leicester City.
Man City netted the game-winning goal through Carlos Borges, who broke into the box and smashed in at the near post a minute after Sodje entered the game, thereby taking his side a spot above Manchester United on the final day of the season and they clinched the title by a single point.
On a personal level, the 17-year-old Sodje ended the season as the club’s top scorer in the U18 Premier League North with 19 goals in 22 matches, but he still has another chance of extending his haul when he and his teammates face either Fulham or Crystal Palace for the national title.
