Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons have dropped by a spot to 38th in the world, according to the latest ranking by global soccer governing body, FIFA, megasportsarena.com reports.
In contrast with expectations that winning this year’s Turkish Women’s Cup back in February would boost Nigeria’s chances on the scales, the Falcons took a slump instead and dropped from 37th to 38th in the world.
The nine-time African champions, who were ranked 37th in the world in January, however, remain their continent’s top team, ahead of Cameroon, South Africa, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Tunisia, Morocco, Mali, Algeria and Senegal in that order.
This means they will all enjoy a first round bye for the African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers, while reigning world champions, USA are still the number one team in women’s global football at the national team level.
