Manchester United of England youngster, Shola Shoretire will not have a piece of action in Thursday’s UEFA Europa League clash with AS Roma, as he is not included in The Red Devils’ squad for the game, megasportsarena.com reports.
Against all expectations of another step forward for the Nigerian-born attacker, Shoretire is not with United’s squad that left England to the Italian capital on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the reverse fixture in Rome.
The Red Devils’ coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer selected 24 players for the trip to Rome, with Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Amad Diallo and Anthony Elanga the strikers and wingers picked ahead of Shoretire.
With the exception of the round of 32 clash versus Real Sociedad, the 17-year-old England youth international has not traveled for an away match in the Europa League, missing games against AC Milan of Italy and Granada of Spain.
He has been in fine form in his last two games in the Premier League 2, scoring braces against Chelsea and Derby County while providing an assist, while the first of his two efforts against Chelsea has been nominated for Manchester United’s Goal of the Month for April.
Forty-five minutes into the contest, Shoretire evoked memories of Dennis Bergkamp when he controlled Charlie McCann’s pass into the box before turning inside, holding off the defender and firing into the net.
He is up against Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga, Alejandro Garnacho, Edinson Cavani (3), Ella Toone, Mason Greenwood, Zidane Iqbal, Christen Press, Isak Hasen and Bruno Fernandes for the Goal of the Month prize.
