Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu is back in full training and seeking a return to optimum fitness levels, following his recent infection with coronavirus and eventual recovery, megasportsarena.com reports.
After battling the highly-contagious respiratory ailment for almost three weeks, Kalu returned to training with his French Ligue 1 club on Sunday morning, following which he stated delight being back with the rest of the squad and declared that he is determined to make up for lost time.
That declaration is now the fulcrum guiding and pushing the 22-year-old Super Eagles’ ace on to busier days ahead, as he aims to consolidate on his first day back with the squad and move on from that moment when he trained normally during the session that held behind closed doors.
It also marked an exciting change to the discomfort, boredom and tedium he faced after going into quarantine since the first week of July, when it was diagnosed by the club’s medics that he had contracted COVID-19; and Sunday was his first team training after five months, as he had earlier been stranded after holidaying in Nigeria and was trapped by the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Bordeaux took to social media to reveal their glee and uploaded photographs of Kalu’s first day back in training, showing how excited his teammates and coaches were excited to welcome the former SK Trencin of Slovakia and KAA Gent of Belgium star as he reunited with them on the pitch; while also adding a post that read: “DÉJÀ DE RETOUR AU TRAVAIL 🏋️ ▫️▫️▫️ ALREADY BACK TO WORK 🏋️ • • • #GIRONDINS #PREPARATIONFCGB #BORDEAUX #PRESEASON.”
