Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze has been declared as very doubtful in his chances of pulling off a widely touted move to join his close pal, Victor Osimhen at SSC Napoli of Italy, who are reportedly in the hunt for more Nigerian players this summer.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, despite several reports from various news channels and portals last week linking Chukwueze and another Super Eagles’ star, Ola Aina to Osimhen’s new club, the Villarreal left-footed ace is not bound to make the shift from Spain to Naples this summer.
This is sequel to reports that The Yellow Submarine are not ready to let Chukwueze go and the club have now stated categorically that they have not received a formal bid from Napoli or any other club seeking to lure the player away from their camp.
Although a report by Italian media outfit, Le Bombe de Vlad hinted last week that Chukwueze could be linking up with Osimhen this summer in Naples side, a follow up by USA.com disclosed that there has been no official move by Napoli to hold talks with Villarreal over a likely transfer for the fair-skinned Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist and third highest goals scorer.
Le Bombe de Vlad’s report actually pointed out that Napoli were willing to pay €30m to hook the lad fondly called ‘Samu,’ but the update last weekend indicated that Villarreal are not ready to let go of the lad, who was part of the squad that helped the club place fifth last season in the Spanish LaLiga.
Although last season was not as prolific as the previous one had been in terms of goals, assists and minutes played for ‘Samu,’ he still got in and out of The Yellow Submarine’s mainframe, to the extent that he was able to retain relevance in the team as an impact player that can still be called upon to contribute his quota when the chips are down.
That has now apparently informed the reluctance by the hierarchy at Villarreal to let Chukwueze go, unless they receive a mammoth offer close to the 100m Euro buy clause they inserted into their current contract for the Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia product, who ended the immediate past campaign with three goals and five assists in 35 appearances.
