Sadiq Umar grabbed the decisive goal that catapulted UD Almeria to the elite division of Spanish football on Sunday evening, Megasportsarena.com reports.
The big Nigerian forward found the range to draw level with CD Leganes after compatriot Kenneth Omeruo had given the home side the lead going into the break.
The Almeria lynchpin ended the season with 18 goals and 9 assists, won 7 penalties with 14 big chances created plus 36 chances created in all 36 league games (34 starts).
A point was enough to confirm Almeria as La Liga 2 champions and Umar and teammates will play in the Spanish top division next season.
It was a battle of two Nigerian players, Kenneth Omeruo and Umar Sadiq in the final game of the season, and the Super Eagles stars found the net in th 5r minute as Leganes forced Almeria to a 2-2 draw on Sunday evening.
Omeruo handed the home side the lead minutes before the halftime break to make it 2-1 but they were pegged back by ubiquitous Sadiq who smashed home the equaliser shortly after the interval.
Umar Sadiq is now set to fulfill his dream of playing in La Liga.
