Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr is raining accolades on his players, ahead of their second international friendly with Cameroon, as he noted that the lads are in high spirits heading into Tuesday’s game, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although many Nigerian fans remain critical of the team’s performance in Friday’s 1-0 loss to the same opponent in another friendly, Rohr insists his lads gave the best they could and hailed their efforts during training heading into the rematch.
The Franco-German gaffer went on to hail the newly invited lads and a number of rookies that could be heading for their debuts, as he reckoned that they have all settled in perfectly.
Hungary-based Vincent Onovo, Enyimba of Aba goalkeeper John Noble and Izuchukwu Anthony from Slovakia are the three uncapped players in the Super Eagles squad before Tuesday’s second friendly with Cameroon.
He added that the versatile abilities seen in FC Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon and Abraham Marcus from Portugal have also given him cause for delight, even as he is now toying with the idea of reverting to a 3-5-2 formation for Tuesday’s game.
The gaffer spoke warmly about the possibility of lining Simon and CD Feirense’s Marcus out as wing-backs or fullbacks, depending on whether they are attacking or defending, and both players looked splendid when they tried out their new roles in the Eagles’ final workout on Monday.
“We have even Moses Simon who can play fullback, he did it very well in the training session and also Marcus who is normally a winger had to play left-back, he did it well.
“It is interesting and they work in a good spirit and the quality of the last training session was very good,” Rohr submitted.
