Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr has commenced planning his strategies for next month’s much-awaited blockbuster international friendly against Brazil, with the Franco-German tactician acknowledging that it will be a tough game for him and his players, megasportsarena.com reports.
With Brazil’s handler, Tite dramatically lining up his full array of star players for the October 13 game in Singapore, Rohr is rising to the occasion with his efforts to curtail any expected forages from The Samba Boys, whose attack will be spearheaded by Paris Saint-Germaine of France star, Neymar and Liverpool striker, Roberto Firmino.
The deadly duo top the roster named by Tite at the weekend, with the five-time FIFA World Cup champions handing a recall to injury-prone Neymar in their 23-man squad to face Nigeria three days after they play Senegal at same venue in another international friendly next month.
Neymar, tops the star-studded team released on Friday by Brazil Football Federation for the tie against Nigeria at Singapore National Stadium, alongside Fabinho and Firmino, Manchester City’s goalkeeper, Ederson, and Alex Iwobi’s teammate at Everton, Richarlison.
Nigeria and Brazil will be meeting for just the second time ever at senior level, with the first clash in 2003 won 3-0 by the visiting South Americans at the opening of the then new Abuja stadium, and they now aim to also win the highly-anticipated rematch.
Tite’s squad for both October friendlies has three goalkeepers in Ederson, Weverton and Santos, as well as eight defenders in Daniel Alves, Alex Sandro, Rena Lodil, Thiago Silva, Marquinho, Eder Militao, Danilo and Rodrigo.
Also listed by Tite are five midfielders: Arthur, Casemiro, Fabinho, Coutinho Henrique and Lucas Paqueta as well as six forwards completing the roster, namely Firmino, Barbosa, Everton, Gabriel Jesus, Neymar and Richarlison.
It is now left to be seen how Nigeria’s technical crew will be able to fashion out strategies on how the Eagles will be able to contain the star-studded Brazilians, but a source close to the team assured that Rohr is already plotting the right strategies that will see his squad come out on top.
