Pundit Wants Leon Balogun Back At Rangers After Set Piece Frailties

0

Glasgow Rangers obvious frailties in dealing with set pieces have triggered a call to the club management to recall Leon Balogun whose contract ended last season, Megasportsarena.com reports.

Pundit Ally McCoist believes Rangers could have done better with Balogun in the heart of defence in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League playoff match against PSV, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst short of options in that area.

“I tell you what, they could have done with him tonight. He’s got a height and presence and scores goals in Europe.” He said after the match.

Rangers conceded two set piece goals to their Dutch opponents with Balogun sitting in the stands and McCoist suggested during the post match analysis that the Nigerian defender could have played a starring role as he questioned the decision to let him go in the summer.

“Balogun is sitting up in the stand watching Rangers. I am not sure I would be letting him go. You look at [John] Souttar’s injuries and [Filip] Helander obviously. I was surprised to see him go.”
