SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has been cited alongside FC Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon and Watford of England defender, William Troost-Ekong among milestones enacted in the Super Eagles’ squad that battled the Black Stars of Ghana on Friday.

While Osimhen and Simon both featured in their seventh straight match of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Troost-Ekong had the pleasure of being captain from the start for the fifth time, but they could only settle for a goalless draw at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana.

Aside getting their seventh consecutive starts in the Qatar 2022 qualifiers, Osimhen and Simon are the only two that have started all the Eagles’ games in the series, within which they have now drawn two games with Troost-Ekong as skipper, but earlier won two and lost one.

Osimhen was also among three of the players aged 23 or below, along with Francis Odinaka Uzoho and Samuel Chukwueze, with the trio joined by Kelechi Iheanacho among the lot that have won the FIFA U17 World Cup in years past.

Other facts in numbers for the Eagles’ players showed that 11 of those that started the game had an average age of 25.45 years, with Glasgow Rangers of Scotland defender, Leon Aderemi Balogun the oldest at 33.

Megasportsarena.com gathered further that seven of those named in the starting 11 on Friday by Eagles’ interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen also featured from the beginning of a 1-0 loss to Tunisia in their last competitive match.

However, Osimhen, Balogun and Innocent Bonke, who started on Friday, were not in Eguavoen’s squad to this year’s AFCON, while Leganes of Spain defender, Kenneth Omeruo was benched for 90 minutes, thereby missing his 59th international game and the chance of becoming Nigeria’s joint-14th most capped player in history.

Eagles’ squad versus Ghana: Francis Uzoho; Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Aderemi Balogun, Zaidu Sanusi (Calvin Bassey); Innocent Bonke (Frank Onyeka), Joe Aribo (Peter Etebo), Kelechi Iheanacho; Samuel Chukwueze (Ademola Lookman), Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon (Emmanuel Dennis).
