SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen is back at his base in The Land of The Azzurri fresh from another sterling performance and personal high rating with the Super Eagles, megasportsarena.com reports.
The latest landmark in green-and-white was enacted by Osimhen on Sunday, when he notched one of the goals that gave Nigeria a redemption 2-0 win away to Central African Republic (CAR) in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Though a number of pundits gave Glasgow Rangers of Scotland defender, Leon Aderemi Balogun a higher individual rating than Osimhen, the Napoli lad also scored high on the individual cards of some other analysts, after they both scored in Nigeria’s victory.
Balogun made up for his error that gave CAR a shock 1-0 win during the first leg at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos last Thursday, as he put Nigeria ahead midway through the first half, after which Osimhen doubled the lead just before half-time.
Both players topped the log among the Nigerian lot, whose overall rate card showed put up an improved performance on Sunday than they did on Thursday, thereby fully justifying their 2-0 victory.
Although Osimhen was also adjudged to have put in a top personal performance during the game played in Douala, Cameroon, he could only garner seven points over ten on the ratings by allnigeriasoccer.com, which gave Balogun 8/10.
The website’s verdict for Osimhen read: “The Napoli striker scored the second goal of the Match when he masterfully finished off a glorious pass from William Troost Ekong for his second goal of the qualifying campaign. 8/10.”
Osimhen, though, got better marks from goal.com, which placed him joint-top of the Nigerian rate card, with 6.5/10, alongside Chidozie Awaziem and Frank Onyeka, while Balogun gained only six over ten points on their log.
Goal.com’s citation for Osimhen read thus: “Made up for his wayward shooting in Lagos by doubling the West African nation’s advantage just before the interlude. The red-hot Napoli forward could have had his second of the match after the break.”
