Barcelona Femeni of Spain attacker, Asisat Oshoala is primed to star for Nigeria’s women’s national team, Super Falcons in their second match at the Summer Series Invitational competition in United States of America, where they lost to Jamaica on Thursday.
The Falcons’ captain missed the opening game in Houston, Texas, USA but officials of the Nigerian team have disclosed that the four-time African Women Footballer of The Year will join the squad in time for their second fixture, which will be against Portugal on Sunday.
Oshoala was absent from the first game alongside Belarus-based defender, Onome Ebi, but both players are now expected to be in action against Portugal, after which they will also be available for the epochal clash with the host country early next week.
Megasportsarena.com reports that top shots of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) disclosed that the invitational competition is aimed at preparing the nine-time African champions for their continental championship qualifier against Ghana in October.
Oshoala’s absence was direly felt on Thursday, as the Falcons fell 1-0 to Jamaica in their opening game of the Summer Series, though Spain-based goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi saved a penalty in the 26th minute after Glory Ogbonna fouled an opponent inside the box.
