Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Henry Onyekuru may end up being unable to extend his current loan deal into a full contract this season, as his return to top form with the Turkish Super Lig outfit has drawn interest from his parent club, AS Monaco, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Although Onyekuru was hurriedly loaned by Monaco to Gala, when he failed to click in the first half of the ongoing season, the Super Eagles star has found his rhythm back at the club he first played for two terms ago, and he would have preferred getting a permanent deal this summer.
However, that might not be the case any longer, as Monaco are said to be impressed with the fact that Onyekuru has returned to goals scoring form for Galatasaray and is now a permanent starter for the Istanbul-based squad at Turk Telecom Stadium.
A report by AOIFootball adds: “Onyekuru is already causing a transfer stir despite just playing only four matches for Turk Telecom sponsored side Galatasaray since joining in the January transfer window on loan from French giants, AS Monaco.
“Onyekuru had a disastrous start to life at Monaco despite being one of the club’s biggest recruit in the summer from Everton, but a change in Monaco’s playing pattern badly affected the former Anderlecht goal poacher which eventually forced him to be confined on the bench.
“This made Onyekuru return on loan in search of playing time at Galatasaray where he won a league title and an FA Cup last season. His return has since created a resurgence for Fatih Terim’s side and they a back to reckoning in the Turkish Super Lig.
“Consequently, Onyekuru’s recent performance has made Galatasaray rekindle interest in him as they aim to splash the cash to make a permanent swoop for the 22-year-old. Monaco plan to have Onyekuru back in order to strengthen the squad ahead of the season. The French giants, who broke the bank to sign the forward for 20 million Euros last season, still appreciate his quality and will not let the player go to Turkey.”
