Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine striker, Olarewaju Kayode will be playing away from the Eastern European club for the second season running, as he has hooked another loan deal in Turkey, megasportsarena.com reports.
After lining out with Gaziantep of Turkey on loan from Donetsk this past season, Kayode is heading back to the same country in a similar deal this summer, but he will this time line out with Gotzepe FK.
The 26-year-old former Golden Eaglets’ striker, who played 16 matches for The Miners in the 2018/19 campaign, including 10 games in the Ukrainian Premier League, initially joined Shakhtar on loan from Manchester City of England in March 2018.
The deal was then made permanent for the former Austrian Bundesliga top scorer at the end of that season, though he netted only twice in six league appearances; and Turkish sports daily, Fanatik has now disclosed that he is now billed to play for Gotzepe .
This is after Gaziantep failed to reach an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk to hook the 27-year-old Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup silver medalist, who scored 10 goals in 27 appearances for the Turkish Super Lig club last season.
Fanatik added that Gaziantep’s move to have Kayode in a full transfer from Shakhtar collapsed when he demanded a pay rise and the Turkish club insisted they cannot afford to splash a higher fee on him, considering the financial losses they have endured in the long war against COVID-19.
