Super Eagles’ defender, Ola Aina has finally left AS Torino of Italy and will this season now play on loan at Fulham of England, who only last season gained promotion back to the top-flight from the lower cadre English Championship.
Megasportsarena.com reports that it is a return to his former hunting grounds in England, as Aina cut his teeth with Chelsea, who first loaned him to Hull City and then Torino, before he got a full contract last summer with the Italian Serie A club, but his struggles in the past season have now led to his exit from Turin back to London.
This comes after The Cottagers agreed on a fee in the region of €2.5m for the versatile player, just a year after he signed a full contract with The Maroons, who have also agreed in terms of the new loan deal a clause offering Fulham a chance to make the move permanent in July 2021.
A report by allnigeriasoccer.com added: “The 23-year-old initially joined Torino in 2018 on loan from Chelsea before sealing a 10 million Euro move 12 months later after impressing in his first season at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
“The 14 times capped Eagle featured in 64 games for Torino across two seasons, scoring once and contributing five assists in the process. Torino manager Marco Giampaolo has chosen thirty-one players for the preseason training camp in Biella and Aina is not part of the group.
“The Super Eagles star was not involved in Torino’s last pre-season game against Pro Vercelli and was made to play out of position in a midfield role in the friendlies against Novara and Pro Patria, a clear signal that he’s surplus to requirements for the upcoming season.
“Since joining Torino, the 23-year-old has made 69 appearances spread across two seasons and was on target once, logging 4,612 minutes in total. A two-time UEFA Youth League winner, Aina was on the books of Chelsea for fourteen years before his permanent move to Torino.”
