AS Torino of Italy defender, Ola Aina has hinted that the Nigerian national team will enact great results in the coming months, as he believes the Super Eagles, as they are currently structured, have many top quality young players that are alls capable of bringing glory to the nation for a long time to come.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the former England youth international, who joined Torino first on loan from Chelsea two seasons ago, before turning his stint into a full contract last term, said he is always happy to be in the squad, with which he went on to win bronze at last year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
That came just a year after he failed to make the cut for the Eagles’ final squad list to Russia 2018 World Cup, but he has now become a regular in the squad under Gernot Rohr, and praised Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for helping the coach build a strong team by encouraging a lot of players born in Europe to don the green-and-white.
The dark-skinned versatile full-back, who previously played ion loan at Hull City in the English Championship, pointed out that one basic reasons behind the Eagles’ currently quality is the NFF’s ability to convince Europe-born players to switch allegiance and star for Nigeria at full senior level, which has given the squad a strong blend of homegrown and foreign-born talents.
Aina told Baiteze TV: “I rate the people that work for the Nigerian Federation to get the European based players, they are working hard. Our team has quality. You are seeing these players playing in Europe basically, playing in Holland, France and Germany.
“So, you don’t really have to ask questions of players like that. It’s really nice, you can see that there’s a link with obviously the English based guys but it is also good in our team that we have guys that grew up in Nigeria playing for us, it is a good mix.”
