AS Torino of Italy defender, Ola Aina is facing a tempting offer to forget about returning to England but face a spell in France instead, as French Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain are said to be keen on signing him this summer, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Initial talk had been on Aina seeking a return to Queensland, where he grew up cutting his teeth in the youth sector of Chelsea, from where he gained a loan deal at lower division side, Hull City, before moving to Torino in a similar deal and then got a full contract last summer on account of his sterling roles with the squad during his maiden campaign in the Italian Serie A.
However, a poor run of form with the Turin-based side so far this season has left Aina thinking of returning to England, but a report by French transfer market portal, Foot Mercato has now disclosed that he has caught the eye of PSG’s sporting director, Leonardo, who is ready to make a swoop to snatch him away from The Maroons.
The report adds that Leonardo is impressed by Aina’s versatile abilities as either left-back, right-back or wing-back for Torino and the Super Eagles, such that the Brazilian former full-back, who has been keeping tabs on the dark-skinned former Chelsea youth team player, is now ready to make a swoop for his signature at the end of this season.
Leonardo is said to be in the hunt for a credible right-back that can take over from departing Belgian defender, Thomas Meunier, as he couple of available back-up options, Colin Dagba and Thilo Kehrer have failed to impress when called into action.
Everything is now pointing in the direction of a deal at PSG for Aina, who has made 17 starts for Torino so far this season, 15 in the Serie A as well as one each in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa League and Coppa Italia.
However, while football experts would reckon a move to Paris would be a defining moment in Aina’s career, the defender will still weigh his options of either moving to France or returning to England, in order to put an end to his current feeling of being homesick in Italy, where his recent downturn of fortunes has already led to links with Everton and West Ham United.
