Sparta Rotterdam of Holland goalkeeper, Emil Maduka Okoye is celebrating another victory for his side in the Dutch Eredivisie, while also acknowledging how happy he was being able to end the match without copping an injury, megasportsarena.com reports.
The Super Eagles’ shot-stopper, who moved to Sparta from Fortuna Düsseldorf in the country of his birth, Germany, took to social to reveal his delight, as he posted: “Thank you Heavenly Father for injury free match, another victory and another clean sheet.”
Okoye’s affirmation of delight came few hours after reports out The Netherlands also indicated that Nigerian-born youngster, Nonso Madueke has received a vote of confidence to keep waxing stronger with PSV Eindhoven.
The 19-year-old Madueke, a product of Tottenham Hotspur of England’s academy, has been involved in 17 goals in 30 matches in the current season despite his limited game time, and PSV’s coach, Roger Schmidt said he is confident the lad will remain at the club next season.
This comes amid speculation linking the winger with Leicester City and Manchester City of England in the summer, as more clubs scramble for Madueke, who has made only ten starts from a possible 44 in all competitions.
Madueke will now aim for more relevance at the club, as Schmidt disclosed that he wants to create space for the winger in the starting line-up next season, even as he gaffer tries to convince the England under-21 international to stay by citing the developments of Mason Mount and Phil Foden at Chelsea and Manchester City of England respectively.
Mount and Foden are products of academies of both clubs, as they rose through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and Etihad Stadium before establishing themselves as first team regulars, and Schmidt believes a similar route can spring forth for Madueke at POSV.
Schmidt submitted: “Noni is just such a player who can go through this development. He has the potential, but now he also needs the experience.
“He has a lot of potential playing football and mentally, but here we offer him the space to continue his development. We talk to him a lot. Not necessarily about the rumors. It is clear to me that he will stay.”
