AD Alcorcón of Spain midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali and FC Lorient of France striker, Terim Moffi were both on song with goals for their respective teams on Saturday, as they contin8ued their recent bursts of top form.
While Moffi kept up the soaring pace that has seen him net crucial goals in recent weeks against Paris-Saint Germane and Olympique Marseille in the French Ligue 1, Nwakali scored again for the second straight game in the Spanish lower division.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Nwakali’s latest feat came on an evening Alcorcón got a shock victory in the Spanish Segunda LiLiga, as they won 3-1 away to FC Lugo.
Nwakali, who is on loan from La Liga side Huesca, followed up on his superb free kick goal last week to score again from the penalty spot in the 80th minute.
The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning captain, who was booked four minutes later, was happy to score his second goal to further boost his club’s chances of avoiding relegation.
The former Arsenal of England midfielder headed into the contest at Estadio Anxo Carro with two goals to his name from three league matches, as he netted an insurance goal from the spot in the 81st minute just as the visitors were threatening an equaliser.
The 22-year-oldNwakali, who joined Alcoron on loan in the January transfer window after finding into difficult to break into SD Huesca’s starting line-up, has started all the matches played by Alcorcón – twelve in total – since joining the club.
In France, Moffi returned to haunt Marseille for the second time this season, as the former Golden Eaglets’ invitee netted his 11th goal in his debut season in France and Simy Nwankwo, with 17 goals in Serie A, is the only Nigerian player that has scored more in the five major leagues in Europe.
The 21-year-old Moffi opened scoring for visiting Lorient after 19 minutes, before the home team drew level and then even went in front, but he restored parity for his club when he hit target again on 70 minutes.
Lorient though will let in a late winner for Marseille as their relegation worries persist, despite Moffi making hay at Orange Vélodrome on Saturday evening, where he justified his current feat of 11 goals and three assists in 27 appearances in the French top-flight since arriving in October 2020.
The former KV Kortrijk of Belgium striker, who scored in five consecutive league matches earlier in the season, thought he had given Lorient a share of the spoils when he equalised in the 70th minute, only for Lirola to score an injury-time winner.
