Nigerian under-20 national team, Flying Eagles’ former invitee, Nnamdi Ofoborh could be infor a bleak future at Glasgow Rangers of Scotland, according to former West Ham United of England striker, Frank McAvennie.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, while Ofoborh is eager to finally stamp his authority with The Gers, McAvennie fears the winger-cum-midfielder might struggle to break into the Glasgow-based side’s starting line-up next season.
This is in contrast with the hoopla that trailed Ofoborh three months ago, when the latest Scottish Premiership champions announced a pre-contract agreement for the youngster from AFC Bournemouth of England.
Details of the agreement revealed that Ofoborh had moved to Ibrox Stadium on a four-year deal that was meant to begin this summer, but they soon sent the former Tottenham Hotspur youth team player on loan to English lower division side, Wycombe Wanderers.
However, while spending the second half of this season with the Wanderers, his appearances have been few and far between, with only three starts for The Chairboys so far in the English Championship, thereby leaving McAvennie to conjecture that there is no place for him at Ibrox.
Ofoborh was not named for the lowly club’s last ten matches in the Scottish second-tier league and McAvennie has now told Football Insider: If you’re not getting a game for Wycombe…They loaned him out and he’s not getting a game, my god. It’s not looking good.
“There has to be some doubts there if he will leave Rangers without playing. Maybe the manager down there didn’t want him playing if he wouldn’t be there next season. I really don’t get that.
“If he comes up here and thinks he can stroll the Premiership after getting relegated, he’ll soon learn. Good luck with that one. Gerrard must see something in the boy. Something the rest of us can’t.”
