Top officials and stakeholders of the country’s wrestling community have joined in mourning the death of the late president of Weightlifting Federation of Nigeria (WFN), Honourable Yahaya Muhammad, who died last Sunday in Kano, megasportsarena.com reports.
This is contained in an official statement by Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), which disclosed that the body, its leadership, members and all people connected to the grapplers’ sport were sad to hear news about Muhammad’s demise and expressed huge shock with his untimely exit.
The statement signed by NWF president, Honoruble Daniel Igali prayed for eternal rest for the weightlifting boss, who until his death was also special assistant to Governor Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa State on assembly matters.
He died at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital after a protracted illness, the news of which Igali said was a rude shock to him and prayed that the late administrator, who he described as a rare man of esteem, will rest in peace and for God to give his immediate family fortitude to bear the loss.
Igali stated: “All athletes, staff and the board of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation mourn the untimely demise of the president of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, Yahaya Muhammad. His death came as a very rude shock to us.
“While praying for his soul to rest in the bosom of the Almighty God, we empathize with his immediate family, the weightlifting federation and the sports fraternity in Nigeria, and pray that God gives his immediate family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
